KATA COMBAT - SELF DEFENCE & FITNESS
2014 FocusPublished 02/01/2014I like most set myself new goals at this time of year. I don't tend to refer to them as new year's resolutions. I like rather to call them areas of focus. The area of focus will indeed spawn a goal or project to plan out and work on.
If I'm sharing this goal with others or if it involves mentoring, then I will write it down so that it is SMART - Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time based. Otherwise, I keep the goal very much in my mind and visualise the steps involved to achieve it. That way I'm more likely to take responsibility for the planning and execution of the steps required to succeed.
Adding the goal to my notebook means that there has already been some progress made, and I'm more likely to dedicate more focus to other tasks. Having the goal already compartmentalised in my head means it is always in the top section of my to-do list.
